Funding your Air Source Heat Pump System
Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)
The Renewable Heat Incentives (RHI) is a financial support programme from the UK government which promotes the use of renewable energy to heat your home. The long-term goal of the RHI scheme is to reduce the greenhouse emission by taking climate change seriously. Only certain types of renewable heat solutions are accepted by the RHI scheme, mainly heat pumps.
The technologies which qualify for RHI include:
- Air Source Heat Pumps
- Ground Source Heat Pumps
- Solar Thermal Systems
How to Apply for the RHI?
In order to receive the benefits from the RHI scheme, you need to apply for it. To qualify you need to live in either England, Scotland or Wales and you must be the owner of a home or be either a social or private landlord. Newly built properties are only eligible if you have built the property yourself.
Calculate your savings via RHI
An online tool is available via the Department of Business Energy & Industrial strategy (BEIS) to calculate how much you can save with the RHI Scheme. The tool will create an estimate based on the technology selected, the current tariff and metering. RHI will pay out over seven years on a quarterly basis. The following table sets out maximum payments available from the RHI Scheme.
The scheme has closed for Non-Domestic premises, but remains open for domestic residential properties until 31st March 2022.
|Product||1st Year||7 Years|
|Ground Source Heat Pump||£ 4.026||£ 29.442|
|Air Source Heat Pump||£ 1.357||£ 9.498|
