Installation Process
Working with Caplor Energy to install your heat pump is a very simple and straight-forward process, with 6 steps we need to take to ensure everything goes smoothly, which are laid out on this page
Be sure to check your installer is a Microgeneration Certificate Scheme (MCS) accredited installer.
- This is a key step that needs to be taken before a full quotation can be provided. We currently have a Spring Offer running, the survey costs just £125.
- Based on the information supplied from the survey, a heat pump system can be sized appropriately for your property’s needs, and a full quotation is provided including all details needed for the installation.

- The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is currently available to eligible homeowners in England and Wales, providing grants of £6,000 for ground source heat pump installations. For more information on the scheme, take a look at this BUS leaflet

Frequently asked questions
The survey is inclusive of all documents required for MCS accreditation including Heat Loss Calculation, Performance Estimate & Noise Calculations. These documents are indicative of the size of system needed, and any prep work that may be required. The quote is created from this. All MCS accredited installers can quote from these documents. Even if you decide not to go for the quote with Caplor, you can keep these documents.
A heat loss calculation is completed on your property during the initial survey. This requires measuring each room, windows and doors within the property, and will give us a detailed analysis of what heat emitters are needed to cover the heat loss for your property. Heat Loss in detail HERE.
A performance estimate is used to calculate the annual electricity consumption of the heat pump (kWh). It can also calculate the estimated cost of running using your current rate (pence/kW) and compares to existing heating source.
The noise calculation checks that the position of the heat pump complies with Permitting Development Noise Limits. If it does not comply, Planning Premising may need to be sought, or an alternative area to place the pump.
As part of the Heat and Buildings Strategy package, The Government has announced the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), launched in May 2022. This grant will run for the next 3 years, awarding 30,000 customer/year with a grant. The BUS will see consumers entitled to an upfront grant of £5,000 against the purchase and installation of an air source heat pump, and of £6,000 against the purchase of a ground source heat pump. Once a Grant is approved, the voucher will last for 3 months, and there are no extensions or guarantees a new application for the same property would be successful, therefore it is important that all prerequisites are met, prior to agreeing an install date.
What do you need to do next?
If you are happy to proceed with Caplor Energy as your chosen installer for your heat pump, the next step is to pay for your Heat Loss Survey.
This usually costs £250, but currently we have a Spring Offer of £125. This includes all documents required for MCS accreditation (e.g. heat loss calculation, performance estimate, noise calculations etc.) and will be taken off your final installation cost if our quotation is accepted.
